3rd Year Lands Job with P&O
One of our 3rd years, Ellen West, just made it through tough auditions to land her first job – performing with P&O Cruises – and she hasn’t even graduated yet!
This is fantastic news for Ellen, who will be jetting off as soon as she graduates in June. We caught up with Ellen to find out how she feels about it all…
Congratulations Ellen! You’ve already got your first job lined up, and with such a prestigious company – how did you feel when you heard?
“When I got the good news I felt amazing at the fact that I had been noticed out of so many people. It was worth the while going to London for the audition – it was such a positive outcome!”
How did you feel during your audition?
“During the audition I tried to stay focused and not be distracted by anybody else, but it was difficult… I was nervous at first, but after I got through the first round I was a lot more relaxed and confident in myself.”
And how did you prepare for it?
“I prepared myself by making sure I was warmed up and looked polished and professional with my looks! Mentally I prepared myself for a difficult routine and having to pick it up fast!”
As you were so successful, can you offer us some advice for other budding professional dancers?
“I would just say always keep smiling and really focus on what you are doing. Be as confident as you can and don’t think that your out you’re depth down south or be threatened too much by the competition!”
Thanks Ellen, Dance For All is very proud. Thanks to our fantastic team of dedicated tutors and the hard work of our talented students, Dance For All’s graduates are continuing to leave quite the impression on international cruise ship companies!
Ellen still has four months of training, exams and performances to go before we launch our 2013 graduates into the world. Exciting times!
