Formerly known as The Theatre School of Dance, full-time training has been offered at our venue for nearly four decades. Our present course, in collaboration with Jewel & Esk College has been running since 1991 and takes pride on furthering individual student’s qualifications gained at their previous dance schools.
DANCE FOR ALL is a hub of expertise which offers all the support of a professional accredited school, equipping their students with the sound, reputable training that is essential for a successful career in the dance profession.
During the three year course students are extensively trained to develop into versatile performers and teachers, gaining a thorough grounding in all the skills and techniques needed to pursue a long and varied career in dance.
DANCE FOR ALL is an officially approved centre for teacher training, vocational and professional qualifications and all students are given the opportunity to gain both nationally and internationally recognised academic and teaching qualifications:
- RAD ballet, ISTD Modern, Tap and National up to Advanced 2 level.
- All students are taught the Spanish Dance Society examination syllabus.
- Foundation, HNC and HND in dance in collaboration with Jewel & Esk Valley College
- ISTD Foundation in Dance Instruction (FDI)
- ISTD Certificate in Dance Education (CDE)
- Placement and mentoring for those wishing to train as an RAD teacher

The three year training gives a wide variety of genres including classical Ballet, Benesh, Jazz, Street, Urban, Tap, National, Spanish, Contemporary, Choreography, Singing and Musical Theatre. This gives students a thorough grounding in all the techniques needed to pursue a long and varied dance career.
Our highly experienced and qualified teaching faculty provide the finest training available and are dedicated to imparting their extensive knowledge, skill and artistry to the students. Workshops and master-classes are frequently given by visiting choreographers, performers and directors currently working in the profession, offering our students a chance to experience first-hand the current styles and trends. Frequent performing opportunities include the twice-yearly showcases and appearances at a wide variety of venues throughout Scotland.
In addition to the practical dance work, students pursue a range of contextual studies in dance history and appreciation, anatomy, physiology, notation and the arts in general.
Students may enter examinations with the following societies: RAD: Royal Academy of Dance (ballet to Advanced 2 level), ISTD: Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Modern, Tap and National to Advanced 2 level) and the SDS: Spanish Dance Society. Students also have the opportunity to pursue the ISTD’s teaching qualifications, the Foundation of Dance Instruction and Certificate in Dance Education, whilst tutors provide mentoring and practical sessions fro RAD teacher training.
In the relatively intimate atmosphere of the school our students emerge at the end of their course as confident, positive, communicative and self disciplined individuals, with a very high professional standard and an excellent education for life.

Entry on the course is purely by audition. Auditions for places on the full-time course are typically held in the Spring for entry in September each year - we will announce the exact dates below and on our News page. Whilst previous dance training is preferable, there are no specific qualifications required to apply for a place on the course. We also hold an Open Day every Winter, watch our News page or follow us on Facebook to stay updated.
Our talented graduates have progressed on to work in choreography, musicals, TV & film, music videos, at theme parks such as Disneyland Paris, on cruise ships and joined dance companies, touring the world. Many go on to teach both nationally and internationally and have even established their own dance schools.
