“My daughter has been attending for 7 years and has never once grumbled about it. It has helped her self-confidence enormously.”

What helped you make the decision to choose Dance For All?
“Location near to home. Sensible pricing, recommended by a friend. I had a friendly chat on phone with a member of staff prior to booking, she gave good advice re clothing and how to find the venue.”

What do you like most about our classes?
“Friendly; good teaching, but no undue pressure. My daughter has been attending for 7 years and has never once grumbled about it. It has helped her self confidence enormously.”

What’s the most important thing people should know about us?
“It looks small and unassuming on the outside but there’s so much going on!”

– Sophie, mum to 11yr old daughter & DFA Ballet pupil

“We had no hesitations – we know DFA by reputation as being a well-respected and successful dance school.”

“My daughter had an excellent time at the summer schools/intensives, so when my son wanted to start ballet lessons (following his first experience of dancing in Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies), DFA was one of the first places we looked to for classes to suit him… and my daughter who attends other classes also goes with him to support him and to supplement her own lessons – she is going into full-time training this September.”

What do they like most about their classes?
“They love the teacher (Peter) who they describe as very good, very encouraging and the classes are challenging. They also like having a pianist at classes.”

What’s the most important thing people should know about us?
“The amount of good quality training that you offer. Excellent classes which are taught correctly and are challenging but very encouraging.”

– Alexandria, mum to 19yr old son (Adult Beginner Ballet) & 16yr old  daughter (RAD Intermediate Ballet + Summer schools)

“Dance For All is an inclusive, friendly dance school which accepts the wide variety of pupils who cross its door… The ballet lessons are a rarity in that some of them have a live piano player.”

Edinburgh Mum, Lindsay Law, reviews ballet and flamenco dance classes Dance For All - testimonial“I tried a few dance classes for my daughters before I found this one. None of the other classes we tried managed to get a healthy balance between exams, and just dancing for fun. At a previous school, they were only interested in the children who they felt had potential, the others were side-lined and unwelcome in the annual show. At another, there was plenty of fun and frolics, but my elder daughter was keen to work towards a certificate, which that school didn’t offer.

Dance for All offers the best of both worlds. It is an inclusive, friendly dance school which accepts the wide variety of pupils who cross its door.

The premises look exactly like I’d always imagined a dance school would – a labyrinth of stairs and corridors. The ballet lessons are a rarity in that some of them have a live piano player. It’s a lovely experience as it means a class is more seamlessly taught.

Most importantly, the director Tracy Hawkes and her teaching staff seem to genuinely want to impart their love of dance and engage young people in a healthy and creative activity.

Aimee, 15, Ballet, Tap & Jazz pupil (12 years with DFA)

What do I like most? The dances, staff, music & pupils! It’s always enjoyable and we get pushed to always do our best. I can’t remember a time before DFA! It’s never boring, always fun and you make lifelong friends.

Sula, 14, Ballet, Jazz & Contemporary (1.5 years with DFA)

I’d never done dance classes before, but you get such a confidence boost, and meet new people you’ll keep in touch with for life. I really enjoyed seeing myself improve and the relationships I made with the teachers & other pupils. Everyone is welcome – there is a class for everyone.

Maverick, 17, Tap & Jazz (8 months with DFA)

I really like the teaching styles and depth & technicality of steps. The most important thing people should know about Dance For All is the diversity of styles and training on offer.

Iona, 15, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, & Flamenco

The classes are very good at Dance For All because the teachers are very nice, they teach the class well and it’s very fun! The atmosphere of the whole school is extremely friendly and welcoming.

Mimi, 15, Ballet, Jazz, Flamenco (9 years with DFA)

I’d never done dance classes before, but the teachers are really friendly and helpful. They challenge you, but not too far. Teachers work to your body’s limitations and don’t try to force anything i.e. you don’t need to be a specific body type. There are so many varied styles of dance at DFA that cater to your tastes and body. And everyone’s really close knit – there’s a lovely atmosphere.

Caitlin, 17, Jazz pupil (7 years with DFA)

I really like the friendly attitude of pupils and staff at Dance For All. You get a large confidence boost and increase in ability because it’s challenging. You also make good friends. Although I’m leaving, I’ve enjoyed my time and would not have changed anything.

Shona, 19, Jazz (2 years with DFA)

At Dance For All the classes are easy to get into & the people are friendly. There’s a wide range of styles and classes of all abilities. I really like my teacher Samm and all the dances we do.

Freya, 14, Ballet & Jazz (1.5 years with DFA)

Before I joined Dance For All, my main hesitation was not having enough technique but I’m so pleased how much better I’ve gotten much better after taking these classes. My favourite things are learning the routines and being able to teach each other. There are so many classes available and everyone is so nice!

Thea, 14, Jazz (2.5 years with DFA)

I never hesitated coming to DFA. Nobody judges you and they’re all extremely friendly. It’s a really nice dance school and there’s so much to do. Come to Dance For All, you learn so much and they make you more confident!
