Professional Dance Training at Dance For All, Edinburgh

Established in 1985 by Director Tracy Hawkes, Dance For All amalgamated with the prestigious Theatre School of Dance in Stockbridge in 2000, where full-time dance training and classes were offered for nearly four decades, training a large majority of Scottish dancers, teachers and choreographers.

Principal Director Tracy Hawkes RTS ARAD SDS IdB(1) is one of Scotland’s best known dance teachers who has performed and taught extensively in schools and companies in the UK and abroad, including Basic Space Dance Theatre, Napac Ballet and Durban City Ballet. Tracy is a registered teacher and associate of RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and the only Spanish Dance Society qualified teacher in Scotland. Promoting excellence and enjoyment in all forms of dance, she directs an inspirational faculty of dance tutors, comprised of many of the most respected and renowned dance professionals in the business today.

In 2010 we were delighted to announce that the accomplished writer, playwright, actor and director Steven Berkoff was to become our first official Patron

Berkoff has created numerous adaptations and plays for the stage, authored a variety of books and acted in a number of films, including the blockbusters A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, Octopussy, Rambo and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  He says he is “thrilled to be a Patron” and that Dance For All is a “wonderful school.” Read more about Berkoff’s prolific and distinguished career…

Child and Teen dance classes and Dance For All, Edinburgh

The great versatility and vast experience of Dance For All’s faculty is reflected in the immense variety of dance classes and courses held at our studio in Stockbridge. Over 70 weekly classes are taught each week to children from 2½ – 18 years of age and adults from 16 – 106! As well as our annual Summer Clubs and Shows, our classes include RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap, SDS Flamenco, Jazz, Contemporary, Yoga, Pilates and Drop-In Ballet. Find out more…

Since 2000 Tracy Hawkes has also been directing the award-winning Professional Dance Performance Training Course in collaboration with Edinburgh College (formally Jewel & Esk College). It is the longest running full-time dance course of its kind in Scotland that offers an HND in Professional Dance Performance plus complete professional dance and dance teacher training.

During the two-year course students are successfully trained to develop into versatile performers and teachers, gaining a thorough grounding in all the skills and techniques needed to pursue a long and varied career in dance. Click the tabs below for more info…

Dance & Performance Training

Dance For All is an Approved Centre for ISTD Training and the only Spanish Dance Society training centre in Scotland.

With us you can build upon your RAD Ballet & ISTD Tap & Modern examinations to Advanced Level 2.

We work in collaboration with Edinburgh College, an SQA approved centre, to gain your NQ Advanced Higher Dance; HNC and HND in Professional Dance Performance.

Genres taught include: RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap, ISTD Modern, National, Spanish, Contemporary, Jazz, Street, Urban, commercial, plus Choreography, Singing and Musical Theatre with frequent performing opportunities for every student.

Our talented graduates have progressed to work in choreography, musicals, TV & film, music videos, at theme parks such as Disneyland Paris, on cruise ships and joined dance companies, touring the world. Audition & Apply

During Winter & Spring we hold Auditions for entry to our Professional Course in the following September. Entry on the course is by audition and every year only limited spaces are available.
