Dance For All College Students Perform at the Finale of Go Dance 2022, Glasgow

On 2nd February 2022, Dance For All College students performed at the Go Dance festival at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Go Dance festival returned, featuring dance routines from Scotland’s leading dance colleges, dance schools and community groups.

Alison Cowan, Senior Creative Learning Manager at the Theatre Royal, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome groups back to Go Dance this year, particularly as it was due to open the night before we went into lockdown back in March 2020. There’s an incredible richness and diversity of dance making happening in our communities and for dancers to see their work beautifully lit on a main stage such as Theatre Royal, is a unique experience.”

Go Dance was launched in 2008 as an annual dance festival to showcase the diversity of dance across Scotland. Dance For All College was delighted to be invited again to perform the finale.

This year’s sequence was performed by our final year students and choreographed by our tutor Lesley Wood, who is a Fellow and Examiner of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and as such she is one of the most experienced and respected teachers in the country.

Previously, she has performed across Europe, the USA and Canada, and was an External Verifier with the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and a faculty member of the Performing Arts Department at Motherwell College. She is Principal of the Dance Factory in Glasgow, has been the subject of two BBC documentaries, and is a renowned choreographer, working with the BBC, Scottish Television and Scottish Opera. In addition, she has choreographed numerous productions, including: Footloose, We Will Rock You, Rent, Our House, Witches of Eastwick, Songs for a New World, Jekyll and HydeChildren of Eden and Panto for Imagine Theatre.
