Regular annual student performances include Go Dance in Glasgow which brings together over 1000 dancers, the Spring Fling where our senior teen & adult weekly pupils join our professional students and our End of Year Showcase featuring solos from our graduating 3yrs. Our students have been invited to perform at numerous events and danced in front of numerous VIPs, including Scotland’s renowned dance critic Kelly Apter. Of our recent show, she said:

Can You Dance? 2023

In April 2023, Dance For All College students performed at the Can You Dance? Scotland convention at the SEC in Glasgow.

Go Dance 2023

In March 2023, Dance For All College students performed at the Go Dance festival at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow.

Spring Fling

In March 2023, we thoroughly enjoyed hosting our annual Spring showcase of exhilarating dance theatre where our senior dance school pupils joined our full-time dance college students on stage!

New choreography and an uplifting repertoire of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Commercial, Spanish and Contemporary Dance were performed at the Pleasance.


2022

Took place in June 2022.

Exceptional performances by DFA’s full-time students at The Brunton Theatre were teamed with incredible choreography from some of Scotland’s most renowned dance tutors in the industry!

Around the World and Turning Pointe

After a 2 year hiatus due to the pandemic, we were delighted to be performing again!

It was a packed weekend of dance in March 2022 as our junior and senior pupils performed in a three-show spectacle at Magnusson Centre in Edinburgh Academy. Around the World featured a junior and pre-school pupils and Turning Pointe featured our older junior and senior pupils.

Go Dance 2022

In February 2022, Dance For All College students performed at the Go Dance festival at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Go Dance festival returned, featuring dance routines from Scotland’s leading dance colleges, dance schools and community groups. Read more…

In light of the new guidelines issued by the government on 16th March 2020, we sadly had to cancel our 2020 Easter shows and were unable to hold our June Dance College showcase or perform at Go Dance.

Every year, Dance For All students are invited to perform at the Go Dance festival. This year our students performed an energetic and passionate Carmen Suite at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow in March.

In its 8th year, Go Dance 15 returned to the theatre Royal with an exhilarating programme celebrating the best of community dance. A unique collaborative event brought together dancers of all ages and all dance styles. Go Dance 15 presented a varied mix of thrilling and inspiring new work by dance groups from across Scotland.

DFA_Show_'Dance_In_Time'_25th,26th&27th_June_2014

On the 25th, 26th & 27th June, in another epic showcase, our new show ‘Dance in Time’ was outstanding!

Captivating new choreography from twelve of our inspirational tutors was matched with incredible performances from our professional students – the audience was so dazzled, they gave us standing ovations every night!

Inspired by legendary and unique music from different decades, our talented students embarked upon a fascinating journey through 150 years, told through a diverse repertoire of dance styles.

Featuring solos from our graduating 3rd years, a full compliment of dance genres was represented, showing just how diversely skilled our students are: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Street, Commercial, Spanish and Contemporary Dance plus Musical Theatre.

Highlights included:

  • Our infamous Can Can
  • A fabulous Cabaret set
  • Numerous duets
  • Sensational finales from the 1920s and 30s
  • And an exceptional en-pointe Paquita Suite ballet, with nine solos!

Go Dance 14

Go Dance 14 is the 7th annual festival celebrating excellence in community dance. It returned to the Theatre Royal in a prime, new summer slot. This week of performances showcased an explosive array of thrilling new work from dance groups and colleges across Scotland and was one of the best dance events of 2014.

DFA Easter Show

Backstage was buzzing with excitement as our Child & Teen class pupils got ready to perform in our biannual Easter Matinees. A delightful and entertaining event, the magical fairytale Ballet’s Pied Piper and Alice Through the Looking Glass were complimented with Tap, Jazz & Contemporary dance to thunderous applause!

DFA Spring Fling

Our talented professional course students and senior teen pupils, from grade 4 upwards, were thrilled to be performing in our annual Spring Fling. This was a fabulous showcase, with a fantastic and fun repertoire of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Street, Commercial, Lyrical, Spanish and Contemporary Dance.

“What an incredible weekend! We must give a special thank you to all our volunteers who helped us throughout rehearsals and all four shows! And every member of our staff, who went above & beyond – we really couldn’t have put this dance extravaganza on without you all! Each dancer brought their own amazing performance too. Thank you for everyone’s contributions across every element: choreography & direction, performance, logistics, tech & lighting, photography & video, design & promotion, box office & admin, catering and backstage – hope that’s everyone included!”

A Winter celebration of dance at Edinburgh College.

Our Professional Course students will be performing at First Footing alongside PASS dance students. This promises to be an entertaining, uplifting and inspiring show!

As always, we will have numerous performance opportunities for every student during this academic session and beyond. We will also be holding our biannual Child & Teen Pupils Spring Show in 2014.

Dance Show LIVE 

SECC Glasgow

24th & 25th August 2013

We performed and exhibited at Dance Show LIVE in August 2013. Perri & Jordan from Diversity, Ruff Diamond, Lukas McFarlane, Poppin Ron, Joseph Hall, Pre-Skool, Mini Moves, Antics & many more dance acts we all performing, as did our talented professional course students!

There were also workshops, classes, dance celeb interviews, two stages and a competition for Scotland’s best dance act! This event was held alongside UDO’s (United Dance Organisation) World Street Dance Championships. Our 2012 graduate Alanna Aitken’s street dance crew, Pulsationz, won the 4th in the World spot!

Inspired by the nostalgia and music of movies, our final show of the academic year was an outstanding and spectacular display from our exceptionally talented students. Our audience enjoyed a magical journey through the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, from silent movies onwards, delighted and surprised by our own eclectic twist on the golden movie eras.

Dance For All performs at Go Dance

Go Dance 2013

This ‘ultimate dance festival’ brings together more than 1000 of the best dancers from across Scotland, with all styles of dance represented.

One of Scotland’s oldest theatres, it is home to Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet. For one night only, Go Dance @ College presented a stunning evening dedicated to the work of Scotland’s leading dance colleges. Our professional students really enjoyed their first performance of 2013.

“Our students danced really well at Go Dance yesterday,” said our Principal Director, Tracy Hawkes. “I am so proud of all we keep achieving together again and again! Lots of hard work but always worth it – especially to hear the great response from the audience. Onwards and upwards, there is always more to strive for every day!”

Twenty of our 2nd year students did us proud on Fri 9th Nov, opening the SQA Star Awards with a brilliant performance of Hairspray. Hosted by Kaye Adams this year, the night recognises inspirational achievements and commitment from individuals, schools, colleges and training organisations across Scotland. Principal Director Tracy Hawkes told our students: ”You were great and it was a fantastic opening to the ceremony!” Read more & see the photos…

Following a great performance to open the Jewel & Esk Graduation Ceremony at the Usher Hall on 28th September, our 2nd and 3rd year students were invited to perform on the 1st Oct at the Assembly Rooms for the Inauguration of Edinburgh College: the official merger of Telford, Jewel & Esk & Stevenson colleges. Dignitaries included the Cabinet Minister for Education & Lifelong Learning and new Edinburgh College Chair, Ian McKay, marking the beginning of a new era.

As expected, our final show of the academic year was mesmerising. Opening with ‘auditions’ for the ‘cruise ship’, the show featured a fantastic Gershwin Suite, a beautiful Tchaikovsky Variations ballet, our trademark CanCan, dance styles from around the globe and an amazing Fabulo-so Fosse Bob Fosse tribute.

Solos from our exceptionally talented graduating 3yrs included: demanding en pointe ballet – each one presented with exquisite grace; an intricate Spanish Tientos –  resonating with passion; and the very tricky Girl in 14G – sung in an incredible and powerful vocal range.

Big Dance Weekend
Sat 30 Jun & Sun 1 Jul 2012

We had lots of fun at our outdoor performances in several city centre openair venues, including Princes Street Gardens’ Ross Bandstand, for the nation’s Big Dance 2012. And our students were at the height of their training, as it was also our show weekend. Over 100 local dance schools took part, with free taster sessions, flashmobs, a massive tea dance and more. This was part of Get Scotland Dancing. You can find out more on Creative Scotland.

A Step in Time
The Biannual Easter Show 2012
17th & 18th March 2012

All Child & Teen Classes in Stockbridge and Newington, from Nursery upwards performed beautifully at the Portobello Town Hall. Beginning with Dr Coppelius’ Toy Workshop, dancing through the 1900’s in ballet, tap, jazz & contemporary, pausing to enjoy a Hansel & Gretel Suite and ending with 1980’s Fame.

A fantastic time was had by all! Backstage fizzed with excitement and our wonderful audience rewarded their young ones with thunderous applause!

As expected, our final show of the academic year was incredible. This show featured an amazing Hairspray Medley, a beautiful Coppelia Suite ballet, graceful and passionate solos from our exceptionally talented graduating 3yrs and an incredible Queen Finale.

As expected, our final show of the academic year was mesmerising. This show featured impressive crunking and tap dance, passionate Spanish Alegrias,  haunting contemporary, a beautiful Paquita ballet (after French-Russian dancer & choreographer Marius Petipa) with graceful solos from our graduating 3rd years and an incredible Variations Finale to Andrew Llyod Webber’s composition.

Our full compliment of performance genres were presented: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Street, Commercial, Spanish and Contemporary Dance plus Musical Theatre.

Dance For All performing

Our students gave a surprise performance at the opening of the Dance fine art exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery 24th April 2010. The exhibition ran until the 6th June 2010 and featured work by Walter Sickert, Arthur Melville, Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas and photographer Diane Arbus.

A gathering of over 40 dance Scottish groups from across the country. This ambitious festival celebrates the work of dance schools, vocational colleges and community groups with a vibrant mix of dance styles; from hip hop to ballet, contemporary to jazz.

From 2000 – 2010 we performed numerous events, including our annual Spring Flings and our End of Year Showcases. Prior to amalgamating with the Theatre School in Stockbridge in 2000, we held annual shows for our junior, senior  and adult pupils to perform at, since 1985. Read more About Dance For All.
